Hundred years ago, people could hardly conceive a world that people telling gossips to their friends who are hundred miles away, with mobile phones. But it’s our normal life in this modern era, a world filled with high-tech products, such as laptop, robot, aircraft etc. These products were invented with a purpose of making our life better. But it’s a double-edged sword. Though these products make our life more efficient and convenient, problems emerge at the same time.
Modern technology has brought us efficiency and convenience. It is because of the airplane, a gigantic machine bird, so that we are able take a flight from the western hemisphere to the eastern hemisphere spending only a few hours. It is because of the mobile phones and laptops, so that we are able to work at home when Covid-19 struck. Compared to people lived hundred years ago, we are able to do more things, make more friends from various cultural backgrounds, and enjoy splendid sceneries at every corner in this world.
However, even though these high-tech products are claimed to be time saving, people have become even busier. For example, us people have developed a bad habit of checking our phones from time to time, as if something vitally important is always waiting for us to work out. We are having dinner with our family, while we show more interest in sending messages to other people. In ancient China, being exiled is a cruel penalty only secondary to death penalty, because once a person was exiled he could never see his families anymore. Nowadays, people prefer to stay with their dumb high-tech products than to enjoy a face-to-face talk with the ones they love. Nowadays, people are really spoiled by modern technology.
To sum up, modern technology is a double-edged sword. It makes our life more efficient and convenient. Modern technology should have spared us more time for our families and friends, but things turn out to be on the contrast.
